We welcomed Laura Shaw, Maureen McMillan, Amy Irvine and Blair Williamson from the University of Strathclyde team to meet the Dovetail bedding team. They have been working hard on 160 bed frames and mattresses for their halls of residence.
The beds were made in record time and delivered to the campus where they were met by happy students.
Projects like this provide more meaningful work opportunities to disabled and disadvantaged members of our communities. The team found the visit so interesting and had a chance to see the positive impact their account has on the individuals working at Dovetail.
We started working with University of Strathclyde through the Scottish Governments Supported Business Framework, this allows the public sector to directly support businesses like Dovetail whilst purchasing a well-made and quality product.
So what happens with the 160 old mattresses? Dovetail have supported the university in saving the equivalent of 7.14 tonnes of waste going to landfill through sustainable recycling of used mattresses.
