COULD YOU HELP DOVETAIL TO THRIVE?
Dovetail Enterprises, a Scottish charity and manufacturing company, is seeking new
Trustees to join its board and help us to build on the long heritage of this social enterprise
– currently with around 50 employees, many of whom are people with disabilities.
– at its manufacturing facility in Dundee.
Dovetail was formed in 1993 when Lord Roberts Workshop, which employed
ex-servicemen with disabilities and Blindcraft which employed workers with
visual impairments, merged to form a new company, which aimed to give people
with disabilities a secure and satisfying job in a sector where such jobs are hard to find.
Dovetail makes high quality
mattresses and bed bases, creates
bespoke furniture for both private and
public sector and manufactures specialist
doors for hotels, councils, health boards
and care homes.
Board members give guidance to
Dovetail’s management team to enable
the charity to thrive and continue to
provide satisfying and secure jobs.
We are committed to enhancing the diversity of Board membership and are keen to
encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds.
You do not need any prior experience of being a board member – Dovetail will provide a full induction.
To enhance our skills mix the Board would particularly welcome applications from people
who have experience in sales; human resources; finance and marketing.
As a board member you will:
• Be committed to Dovetail and our values – quality, ambition, innovation, respect and
communication.
• Promote and advocate our work.
• Give advice and to be prepared to make strong and constructive recommendations.
• Be willing to give the time to become an effective Director on the board, including
attending six-weekly board meetings.
As a Trustee of a charity, you volunteer your time, but can be reimbursed for expenses for
travel, and/or childcare, or care of other dependants whilst attending Board meetings.
Board meetings are currently taking place virtually and we will continue to offer remote
access in the future.
